Is the life of the conveyor mesh belt related to the environment?

2020-09-25

Conveyor mesh belts are also called stainless steel conveyor belts, metal wire braided conveyor belts, stainless steel mesh belts, conveyor belt mesh chains and metal mesh belts.
Since we are used in extremely complex environments, such as high temperature, corrosion and other environments, the service life of ordinary mesh belts is much shorter than that of stainless steel mesh belts. As we all know, the conveyor belt has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and high strength.
1. Use at a high temperature above 400℃
When the mesh belt is working normally, the heat of the conveying material will increase the temperature, and as the temperature increases, the strength of the conveyor belt will gradually decrease. The use limit of stainless steel mesh belt depends on the friction between the material and the mesh belt and the temperature caused by the temperature of the material. If the temperature exceeds 400°C, please contact the stainless steel mesh belt manufacturer to see if it affects the service life of the stainless steel mesh belt. Stainless steel mesh belts are usually resistant to high temperatures and will not affect their life at 400°C. Yes. However, due to different manufacturing processes, stainless steel mesh belts manufactured by different manufacturers have different service lives.
When using conveyor mesh belts at high temperatures, the following issues should be considered:
a) The heat generated by the friction of the mesh belt during work.
b) Since the coefficient of thermal expansion of stainless steel mesh belt varies with the manufacturing process, thermal fatigue may occur when welding different materials.
c) If the ambient temperature exceeds 400°C, the intermittent drop due to expansion between parts should also be considered.
d) Creep;
e) Common mesh belts are fragile when working under high temperature. This also applies to stainless steel mesh belts.
f) The vulnerability of carbon precipitation.
g) The effect of temperature changes on the use of stainless steel mesh belts (cooling and expansion).
h) The influence of high temperature environment on lubrication. Silicon, graphite and molybdenum disulfide lubricants all have good heat resistance.

2. If the mesh belt is exposed to corrosive substances, it will have an adverse effect. First of all, mesh belt components become thinner and thinner, and wear accelerates. The rust on ordinary mesh belt components also affects the flexible rotation of stainless steel mesh belt hinges and drums. If the stainless steel mesh belt continues to function in an acidic or alkaline environment, the part will exhibit stress corrosion and crystalline corrosion.
When using the mesh belt in a corrosive environment, you must be careful when selecting the material of the mesh belt components. Whether to use martensitic stainless steel mesh belt as a part depends on the use environment. Mastering anti-corrosion technology is very helpful for the correct use of mesh belts in corrosive environments.
3. Use mesh belt in grinding environment
The use of mesh belts in abrasive environments can cause severe wear. In order to ensure the service life of the mesh belt, the following points need to be paid attention to:
a) You can install a chain cover to prevent the mesh belt from directly contacting the abrasive.
b) If the mesh belt is exposed to abrasives, the appropriate conveyor type must be selected.
c) Reduce the chain speed as much as possible.
d) Choose a larger mesh belt to reduce the pressure on the hinge, which is composed of mesh belt pins and sleeves.
e) Use grease lubricant.
